PM Processes

Every company has a PM guideline (of course!) with process descriptions in place. Sometimes there are far too many in the mistaken belief that processes replace common sense and are universally valid.

No, they're not. There will always be situations, where the "standard process" will not fit and you do need project managers, who will make the right decisions and do not just fill out the next clean bill of health to cover their ...

The point is, that processes need to be accepted and lived and not just written down somewhere. They have to be developed with all stakeholders and existing tools, templates and checklists, have to be integrated.

Following that another important issue: processes have to be rolled out within the company AND the staff involved need a training, on how to use them. And - of course - not just in a presentation mode, but a real training with real tasks to solve with the new process description.
